VON Saint John is holding a fish fry on June 13 at the Lily Lake Pavilion to raise money to support its many programs. The grilled haddock and side dishes will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The menu includes steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and lemon pie and is being prepared by the Y’s Men’s Club. For tickets, call 635-1530. VON Saint John offers a wide range of services including foot care, immunization, caregiver support, seniors’ health counselling and health-promotion and workplace-wellness clinics.
Win community centre upgrades
Kraft Canada has asked New Brunswick residents to nominate their local community centre or parks in an effort to win up to $75,000 in upgrades as part of its Kraft Savour Summer promotions. The province will compete against all others for one $50,000 community centre revitalization grant and one of three $25,000 park refresh grants. Entrants are required to submit an application, an essay of 500 words or less and three photos to www.savoursummer.ca. Entries will be judged on three criteria: community spirt, overall need and originality. The deadline for park nominations is July 11 and for community centre nominations, July 31. The winners will be announced online on Aug. 15.

Concert, auction to help choral group
A concert and silent auction will be held at Harbour View High School on Thursday to help raise funds to send the Harbour View Choral Ensemble on a tour of New England. The Harbour View Choral Ensemble, Harbour View Jazz Choir, Harbour View Stage Band, the Harbour View Percussion Ensemble and the Saint John Men’s Chorus will perform. Viewing of auction items and placement of bids will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $10, $5 for students and seniors, and $20 for families. All proceeds will go towards the cost of the trip. Tickets are available at the door, from choir members, or by calling 643-2912.
